Vision Statement:
St. Mary's Primary strives to be a welcoming Christ-centred learning community that promotes a quality holistic
education and trusting relationships in a caring and supportive environment.
Acknowledgment of Country: We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wiradjuri people, who, long before us, lived, loved, educated and raised their children on this site. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and we recognise the young people who are our future. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in our community. We respect their deep physical and spiritual connections to the country through their stories traditions and living cultures.
Character Virtue: HOPE
Hope is a feeling of excitement or optimism for the future. It can also be when you want something to happen, like a good mark in a test or your favourite dish for dinner. Hope is recognising that we have heaven to look forward to and that it is the destination where we will experience complete happiness. As a Catholic, hope also means having confidence and trust in God.
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 4.
Sickness - With lots of sickness around at the moment, please keep your child at home if they are showing signs of being unwell to stop the spread of illness to other children and their families. If your child is persistently coughing or has a headache, sore throat, fever, or excess mucus, please keep them at home until they have recovered.
Kindergarten Interviews 2025 - Enrolment interviews for new families for next year’s Kindergarten commenced today and will continue for the next two weeks. Sibling Kindergarten interviews will be happening in the last week of this term.
Eisteddfod Absences - We have several talented performers who will be participating in Eisteddfods in Dubbo and surrounding areas over the coming weeks. Please inform your teachers of these planned absences via Compass before the Eisteddfod. Best of luck to all participating students.
Uniforms and Personal Items - All articles of clothing, school and sports, drink bottles, lunch boxes etc. must be clearly marked with the student’s name. Many articles of clothing, especially school hats and other items such as drink bottles are lost because children do not recognise their own belongings. If your child loses any article at all, please see the teacher immediately.
Winter Uniform
Officially, the children are to wear their formal winter uniform after the June Long Weekend
on Tuesday, 11th June but if your child is feeling cold,
they can wear their winter uniform from the commencement of Term 2.
Religious Education
Dear Parents,
Rise - RISE Youth Festival is for young people in Years 6 to 9 (anyone in Years 10-12 can be involved as a youth team member). The Diocesan Youth Ministers facilitate a festival full of fun, friendship, small group challenges, workshops, games, music and lots of opportunities to encounter Jesus. Register HERE.
Rego is open (even though it's not until July holidays) - St. Brigid’s Parish will subsidise the cost to bring the participant's contribution to $50. We'll also try to arrange transport or carpooling.
Altar Serving Superstars - It was fantastic to see three of our St Mary’s students acting as Altar Servers at Mass last Sunday. It is great to see the connection between our school and parish is still strong.
Confirmation Retreat - Year 6 will participate in an annual Confirmation retreat tomorrow at St. Johns College. We thank Elissa Burden and Year 10 students from the College for their work in running this day.
Confirmation - Confirmation will be held on the 1st/2nd June and 8th/9th June

Attendance
Each day of instruction is an opportunity for students to absorb new knowledge, engage in classroom discussions, and develop critical thinking skills.
Every school day provides a unique opportunity for students to grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Consistent attendance ensures that students make the most of these opportunities, laying the groundwork for a successful and fulfilling educational journey.
Being present in class allows students to actively participate in discussions, ask questions, and engage with the material. Active participation fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter. It helps to develop a sense of purpose and accomplishment and contributes to a positive attitude toward education.
PARTIAL ABSENCES:
Parents must attend the school office to use the Compass Kiosk to complete a PARENT DROP-OFF or PARENT PICK-UP if arriving late or leaving early.
FULL DAY ABSENCES:
A Note should be submitted via Compass for a FULL DAY absence from school.
Reminder: Parents to submit an attendance note within 7 days of absence. Thank you.
