Vision Statement:
St. Mary's Primary strives to be a welcoming Christ-centred learning community that promotes a quality holistic
education and trusting relationships in a caring and supportive environment.
Acknowledgment of Country: We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wiradjuri people, who, long before us, lived, loved, educated and raised their children on this site. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and we recognise the young people who are our future. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in our community. We respect their deep physical and spiritual connections to the country through their stories traditions and living cultures.
Character Virtue: JOYFULNESS
Joyfulness is not just feeling happy because something good happens. It means deciding to see the good in situations, enjoying life's small moments and sharing that joy with others. It's normal to feel sad sometimes, but by being joyful, we see the fruits of the Holy Spirit in all the situations of our lives.
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 6.
Congratulations to our Year 6 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation by The Most Reverend Bishop Michael McKenna on the weekend. The students had been preparing for many weeks to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank you to Fr. Nam, Fr Greg, parents, our Religious Education Co-ordinator Mr Keady, Mrs Rosie Hosking, the Parish Sacramental Team Coordinator and the Religious Education Co-ordinators of the other Catholic Primary Schools for their hard work planning and organising this sacrament for the confirmation candidates.
Thanks to Mrs Sutcliffe, Mrs Fuller, and Miss Hodges for organising a wonderful Fairy Tale Day for our Year 1 students last Tuesday. The children had a wonderful day.
Also, thanks to Mr Keady for organising our Sorry Day Prayer on Monday.
School Review - This Tuesday and Wednesday, we will undergo a Diocesan School Review conducted by the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst. The School Review is part of the continuous school and system improvement cycle and evaluates the school's operation and performance, identifying its strengths and areas for improvement. Evaluations made during the School Review will be used to guide the school in developing its Strategic School Improvement Plan and Annual School Improvement Plans.
The School Review process involves:
1. The collection of data is collected through a wide range of sources and relevant school documents.
This includes staff self-evaluation and reflection based upon the Quality Catholic Education Framework
over the last five years, a review of curriculum documents, examination of teaching programs and student
work samples, and clarification of evidence of compliance.
2. The use of School Satisfaction Data collected via electronic surveys annually.
3. An onsite visit by a panel of personnel from the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst.
4. The compilation of a report on the school’s operation and performance and directions for focus in both the Strategic and Annual Improvement Plans.
Diocesan Spelling Bee - Congratulations to our Super Spellers
Emma Malouf, Anne Campbell, Lucy McArthur, and Anna Godwin for their outstanding performance at last week's CEDB Spelling Bee! Each of these girls showcased their best abilities and represented our school with pride. A special shout-out to Emma and Anna for making it to the Grand Final round. A huge congratulations to Anna for securing 3rd place in the Stage 2 competition. What an incredible achievement by all! We're immensely proud of their hard work and dedication.
Kindergarten Interviews 2025 - Enrolment interviews for younger brothers and sisters of current students who will be starting Kindergarten next year are in the last week of this term.
Uniforms and Personal Items - All articles of clothing, school and sports, drink bottles, lunch boxes etc. must be clearly marked with the student’s name. Many articles of clothing, especially school hats and other items such as drink bottles, are lost because children do not recognise their own belongings. If your child loses any article at all, please see the teacher immediately.
Condolences - Our prayers and sympathy are extended to the Sorensen family (Riley - 3G) following the death of Aimee's stepfather. May he rest in peace.
Winter Uniform
Officially, the children are to wear their formal winter uniform after the June Long Weekend
on Tuesday, 11th June but if your child is feeling cold,
they can wear their winter uniform from the commencement of Term 2.

Sport
Athletics Field Events and Skills and Trials Days - In preparation for our School Athletics Carnival on Monday, 24th June, the Athletic Field Event Trials will be held on Thursday, 13th June, at Barden Park. Detailed information was sent home last week. Year 2 students who turn 9 this year and are members of the Dubbo Little Athletics Club can compete in the field events. We will need some parents to assist at the Athletics Skill Sessions and Trials and the Athletics Carnival to enable them to be completed on time.
If you’re able to assist, please contact us at school.
Netball - Congratulations to both of the St Mary's Primary Netball Teams who competed in the local Netball NSW Schools Cup competition at Nita McGrath Netball Courts on Wednesday 29th May. Both of our teams played well and used their sportsmanship skills and teamwork skills throughout the day. We enjoyed some excellent wins and some close games which ended in defeat, but players and coaches alike will agree that "Netball was the winner on the day!"
The Gold team were lucky enough to compete in the cross pool playoffs against St. Matthews, Mudgee and were successful in that game which now allows them to compete in Mudgee on 4th September.
Many thanks to Miss Tighe for stepping up to the coaching role at the last minute. We appreciate your positive contributions. Mrs Nuttall would also like to thank the parents and friends for their support and initiative in introducing the hydration therapy for us to follow! Lots of fun for all, especially those in dry clothes!

Attendance
Regular attendance enables your child to participate in extracurricular activities, collaborate with peers, and engage in classroom discussions, all of which contribute to their sense of belonging and overall well-being.
Regular attendance:
- fosters a positive and enriching school experience for students.
- ensures that students have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities, such as sports, clubs,
arts, and other enrichment programs.
- provides for consistent participation in class activities that can help students build connections with teachers
and peers.
- helps establish positive habits early in life. These habits, including punctuality and a commitment to
participation, are valuable not only in school but also in future personal and professional endeavours.
If your child is avoiding participating in the opportunities provided by the school, seek to understand why.
