Vision Statement:
St. Mary's Primary strives to be a welcoming Christ-centred learning community that promotes a quality holistic
education and trusting relationships in a caring and supportive environment.
Acknowledgment of Country: We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wiradjuri people, who, long before us, lived, loved, educated and raised their children on this site. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and we recognise the young people who are our future. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in our community. We respect their deep physical and spiritual connections to the country through their stories traditions and living cultures.
Character Virtue: R E S I L I E N C E
Resilience is the ability to recover from challenges and upsetting events without letting them crush you. It means you view obstacles as a chance to learn and grow in your character. Every setback is an opportunity for you to see that God is present in the everyday circumstances of your life, if only you'll ask for help.
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 8.
We had an incredibly busy week last week.
Thank you to Mrs V-C, Miss Powell, Mrs Zell, and Mrs Dann for preparing and coordinating a wonderful NAIDOC celebration last Tuesday. Also, thank you to our teachers for making themselves available for last week’s school dances. On Thursday, Year 3 had their Bike Safety Day, and Year 4 visited the Wellington Caves. Kindergarten put on a beautiful liturgy for Mary’s Birthday on Friday, and it was wonderful to see so many parents and friends join us for the celebration.
We have our First Holy Communion Liturgy this week on Wednesday, presented by Year 2, and our Year 3 Observatory Visit on Thursday.
Monday Uniform - Students are permitted to wear their winter or summer uniforms on Mondays, depending on the weather. If children choose to wear their winter uniform, they must wear their tie.
**All students will wear their full summer uniform in Term 4.
Sport
Horse Sports - Congratulations to the following students who participated in the Horse Sports event at Warren last Thursday and Friday:
Alexis Anderson, Lucinda Anderson, Billy Carter, Nate Salt, Chloe Salt and Max Bourchier.
Congratulations to Chloe Salt who was Champion in her age group.
St. Mary's came 3rd overall in the school point score.
From all reports, the students rode very well and they represented our school with pride.
Polding Athletics - On Friday, students from St. Mary’s will represent the Bathurst Diocese at the Polding Athletics Carnival in Newcastle. It is an outstanding achievement to reach this level of competition, and we wish all of our competitors the best of luck.
Netball Schools Cup - Our school netball team travelled to Orange last Wednesday for the regional finals of the NSW Schools Cup. After going through the preliminary rounds undefeated, they were beaten by a very strong team from St. Mary’s Orange. Well done to all the girls, and thanks to Mrs Nuttall and Miss Herbert for coaching our team.
Religious Education
Dear Parents,
First Eucharist - Our school will host a Liturgy this Wednesday to celebrate those students who have received the sacrament of First Eucharist this year.
This will be held at 11.30 am in our school hall. All are welcome.
Mary’s Birthday Celebrations - On Sunday, 8th September was Mary's birthday. As our patron Saint, we held our celebration to mark this occasion last Friday. We thank Kindergarten and their teachers for leading our school in a beautiful Liturgy. Each student also received a personal Mary’s Birthday Award that highlights a unique quality they bring to create the fabric of our school community.
Year 2 Reconciliation Registration - First Reconciliation registration weekends are fast approaching. All students who wish to register for Reconciliation this year will need to attend a Mass on either the 14th/15th of September or 21st/22nd of September to register.
If you have any questions about Reconciliation, please contact Rosie Hosking via email at sacraments.dubbo@cdob.org.au.
Parish Picnic and St. Mary’s Term 3 Meet 4 Mass - We will be holding our Term 3 Meet 4 Mass on Sunday, 22nd September. We warmly welcome you to come along to the 9 am Mass. Following the Mass, St. Brigid’s Parish will be holding their annual Picnic Day. Please see the flyer below for further details.

Wellbeing
Peer Support - This week in Peer Support Groups we talked about keeping friends and we role played ways we could try to join in with others. We also discussed the fact that we can accept others into our group in a friendly way by welcoming them. This shows that we care about the feelings of others. Sometimes when we ask to play, you may not want to and we need to say "No" to our friends with respect.
Thank you, Mrs Sue Nuttall - Wellbeing Leader
