Vision Statement:
St. Mary's Primary strives to be a welcoming Christ-centred learning community that promotes a quality holistic
education and trusting relationships in a caring and supportive environment.
Acknowledgment of Country: We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wiradjuri people, who, long before us, lived, loved, educated and raised their children on this site. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and we recognise the young people who are our future. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in our community. We respect their deep physical and spiritual connections to the country through their stories traditions and living cultures.
Character Virtue: R E S P E C T
Respect means being thoughtful and nice to other people - thinking about what they would like, including them, considering their rights and valuing their opinion. It also means having proper regard for our parents, property, nature and God Himself, because He is our Creator and loves us more than we can love ourselves.
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 9.
We have our Kinder 25 Parent Information Evening and first transition session this week. We look forward to welcoming our new students and their families to our school.
PUPIL-FREE DAY - Friday - This is a reminder to parents that there will be a Pupil-Free Day this Friday, 20th September. Teachers will spend the day with Dr Sarah McDonagh as we reflect on our implementation of the new English curriculum, celebrate our achievements, and identify areas for improvement.
Monday Uniform - Students are permitted to wear their winter or summer uniforms on Mondays, depending on the weather. If children choose to wear their winter uniform, they must wear their tie.
**All students will wear their full summer uniform in Term 4.
Sport
Polding Athletics - Congratulations to Willow Scott, who won a gold medal in the senior girls' shot put at the Polding Athletics Carnival in Newcastle. This is an amazing achievement, and Willow will now go on to the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships in Sydney in the second week of Term 4.

Peer Support
Good Winners - This week we are learning how to win in a friendly way. It is important to remember to be friendly when we win at games. At times it is disappointing to lose. We need to learn how to cope with this in a positive way. Winning in a positive way means remaining friends with others. We try to be gracious when we win.
Debating
Congratulations to the fantastic St. Mary's Debating teams who were successful in both debates against St. Pius on Friday. The teams were under the pump from the get-go as they were given their topic at 9:30 am as soon as St. Mary's arrived at St. Pius.
The teams then had an hour and a half to write their speeches and figure out their team tactics. The pressure was certainly on!
Both teams were outstanding in their organised preparation and they were exceptional listeners to rebut the opposing teams arguments with challenging vocabulary and logical feedback.
Well done to the debating group who have worked so hard throughout this term.
We are very proud of you and your achievements. Thank you, Mrs Nuttall
Year 5 - Leadership Day
Today we were lucky enough to host the teachers from Bathurst CEDB who facilitated our Year 5 Leadership Day in the St. Mary’s school hall. The students were able to explore the qualities of Leadership and discuss who was the best leader, displaying the best qualities out of Mum and Donald Trump! Some very interesting discussion ensued on that topic!
Students were also asked to prepare a group presentation to the song “Breakable” by the Birds of Tokyo.
A huge thank you to Blair Windsor and Sonya Peck who were enthusiastic, effervescent and effective facilitators.
