Vision Statement:
St. Mary's Primary strives to be a welcoming Christ-centred learning community that promotes a quality holistic
education and trusting relationships in a caring and supportive environment.
Acknowledgment of Country: We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wiradjuri people, who, long before us, lived, loved, educated and raised their children on this site. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and we recognise the young people who are our future. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in our community. We respect their deep physical and spiritual connections to the country through their stories traditions and living cultures.
Character Virtue: S E R E N I T Y
Serenity is a state where you have calmness in both mind and body and are at peace. Living in this kind of space makes it easier to tackle challenges and handle conflict without becoming depressed or anxious. This makes sense because Jesus said, "Peace I leave with I give to you.... do not let your hearts be troubled".
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to our students and their families for the beginning of a new school term. Term 4 is always a busy yet exciting term, with many significant events leading up to the end of the school year. We wish our Year 5 students all the best this week as they’ll be heading off to their Aussie Bush Camps Excursion at Tea Gardens on Wednesday.
Term 4 PSSA - The Primary Schools Sports Association Summer Sporting Competition involving Years 4, 5 and 6 students will commence on Friday, 25th October. Summer sports include cricket and touch football for students in Years 5 & 6. In Year 4, the girls play T-Ball and the boys play cricket. Permission notes will be sent home this week.
House Award - Morning Tea - Congratulations to the students in Moore who have gained the most points for Term 3 on the Class House Award Chart. Congratulations also to our Term 3 Line Award Winners, 2G. They will be rewarded with a special morning tea tomorrow morning.
Term 4 Radical Readers Challenge commences TODAY - Children who read for forty nights this term and keep a continuous record in their Reading Club Booklet will participate in a Reward Activity at the end of the term. These students will also receive a certificate and book prize for completing the challenge. We hope to have many students reach the 300-night reading challenge by the end of the year.
Bathurst Diocesan Summer Sports Trial - Information will be sent home this week to interested students in Years 4 & 5 who nominated themselves for selection in the Bathurst Diocesan Summer Sports Trials. The sports trials will occur on the following days:
Thursday, 14th November - Touch and Cricket
Friday, 15th November - Basketball and Tennis
Diocesan teams will be selected from these trials to compete in the Polding Carnivals in 2025.
Monday Uniform - All students are to be wearing their full summer uniform this Term. Thank you.
SPLASH & DASH
Our P & F committee has launched their major fundraiser for the year - the Splash and Dash. Your child will bring home information tomorrow.
The event aims to promote health, wellness, and community spirit while having an absolute blast! Please mark your calendars because on Friday, 22nd November, our school grounds will be transformed into a canvas of colours.
Our students will raise funds for our Parent and Friends Committee by collecting sponsorship from family and friends.
All funds raised will be put towards continuing improvements to our playground.
The fundraiser offers incentive prizes for those students who raise the most money. As in previous years, any incentive prizes won through collecting sponsorship will be donated to local charities to be distributed to children in disadvantaged families in our local community this Christmas. Alternatively, families can choose to donate to the Daniel Morecombe Foundation or Greenfleet Australia.

Gerard Yeo Shield
At the end of last term, our Year 6 students went to St. Johns College to compete in the Gerard Yeo Shield against other Year 6 students from St. John’s Primary, St. Laurence’s School, and St. Pius X School. They participated in various sports, including league tag, netball, and soccer as well as an academic challenge, chess, and a liturgy. This is a very special day for our Catholic Primary Schools in which staff and students take time to honour the memory of a former student, Gerard Yeo, who was killed in the 2002 Bali bombings.
St Mary's has an outstanding record in this competition, and we again won the shield. We were lucky enough to have Gerard's parents, Kier and Pat Yeo, there to present the shield. Congratulations to our Year 6 students.
